Jakarta, Indonesia — Harapan Kita National Cardiovascular Center (RS Jantung dan Pembuluh Darah Harapan Kita), one of Indonesia’s leading cardiovascular specialty hospitals and the national referral center for cardiovascular disease, has successfully completed its first OCT-guided PCI procedure using the Vivolight Multimodal P80 OCT system, marking a new milestone in the hospital’s development of precision cardiovascular intervention.
This achievement reflects the hospital’s commitment to adopting advanced intravascular imaging technologies and strengthening its capabilities in complex coronary intervention.

A Milestone for Harapan Kita National Cardiovascular Center
This procedure marks the first use of the Vivolight Multimodal P80 OCT system at Harapan Kita National Cardiovascular Center, representing an important step in the hospital’s adoption of advanced imaging-guided coronary intervention.
Prior to the first case, the hospital’s main operators received on-site training on the Vivolight Multimodal P80 OCT system. The session introduced the system’s distinctive multimodal capabilities within the PCI workflow, including plaque characterization, calcium analysis, and functional assessment support. The physicians showed particular interest in several multimodal features that go beyond conventional OCT imaging. The training was followed immediately by the hospital’s first clinical case using the system.

By incorporating OCT into its clinical workflow, the hospital aims to further improve lesion assessment, procedural planning, and treatment precision in daily interventional practice.
Technology Highlights
The Vivolight Multimodal P80 OCT system supported the procedure with clear intravascular visualization and efficient workflow integration. Key capabilities include:
● High-resolution OCT imaging for detailed coronary assessment
● IPA for plaque characterization support
● ICA for calcium analysis and lesion preparation planning
● OCT-FFR for functional assessment support
● A streamlined workflow that helps physicians make more informed procedural decisions
Procedure Overview
The procedure was led by Dr. Doni Firman, together with Dr. Nanda Iryuza and the clinical team from the Cardiology Unit. The patient was a male who presented with a lesion in the proximal-to-mid left anterior descending artery (LAD).
Before pre-procedural OCT imaging, the lesion was pre-dilated. The initial OCT pullback revealed severe calcification, with a calcium score of 4, as well as a large lipid-rich plaque near the LAD ostium.
Calcium analysis (ICA):

Plaque characterization (IPA) and functional assessment (OCT-FFR):

Based on the imaging findings, the team first implanted one stent in the proximal-to-mid LAD. A follow-up OCT pullback then showed that the proximal lumen remained significantly constrained due to calcification. To further optimize the result, the team implanted an additional stent in the proximal LAD.
Final OCT assessment confirmed that the lumen was fully opened, with good stent apposition and 86% stent expansion. The operators were highly satisfied with the final procedural result.

Expanding the Hospital’s Interventional Capabilities
The successful completion of this first case demonstrates Harapan Kita National Cardiovascular Center’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its interventional cardiology capabilities and explore more precise imaging-guided treatment pathways.
With the adoption of advanced intravascular imaging, the hospital is expected to further enhance clinical confidence and procedural efficiency in the management of complex coronary disease.
Looking Ahead
This successful first procedure lays a strong foundation for future use of OCT-guided intervention at Harapan Kita National Cardiovascular Center. Vivolight will continue to work closely with clinical partners in Indonesia to expand access to advanced intravascular imaging and support more precise, efficient, and patient-centered cardiovascular care.
